Family Adventure Wavedancer for Families

Set like a jewel in a Great Barrier Reef lagoon, Low Isles is an idyllic, unspoilt coral island that appeals to everyone. The wide, sandy beach and clear, calm lagoon waters are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and families.

We're looking forward to welcoming your family aboard our beautiful sailing catamaran Wavedancer III, on her daily trip to Low Isles. To enhance your enjoyment, we have highlighted a few points about the day that are of particular interest to families.

Family Fares & PRicing

Family Fares & Pricing

Our Family Fare makes it easier and more affordable to experience the idyllic Low Isles with Wavedancer.  For families of two adults and two children (aged 4-14), one child cruises free (excluding the Environmental Management Charge), offering exceptional value for a full day on this beautiful Great Barrier Reef island. Plus, little ones aged 3 and under travel for free, making it a great choice for a memorable family adventure.

Family Fares & Pricing

Quicksilver offer special Low Isles fare for families. For a family of 2 adults and 2 children, one child's cruise fare is free. Please see our Fares and Pricing page for details.

Snorkelling

Snorkelling

To assist children to obtain the best experience from their day at Low Isles, snorkels, masks and fins are available in child sizes. These are distributed by the crew, after the snorkelling demonstration conducted during the outward journey.

Tip: If your child has their own swimming goggles at home, bring them along. We find most kids are more comfortable with goggles rather than a face mask, and love just 'flopping' around in the water with goggles and no snorkel.

Swimming Aids

Swimming Aids

There are various flotation aids available for your child's use. These range from noodles to full flotation vests depending on your child's swimming abilities.

Accompanying adults may find that young children or non swimmers will tend to lean on them for reassurance when in the water. It is therefore recommended that the accompanying adult should also wear some form of flotation device to prevent them from becoming tired.

Please check with the Snorkelling Safety Officer to ensure the correct fitting and use of the flotation aids before venturing into the water. We also have 'noodles' which offer float assistance (not a life jacket), and a Snorkelling Safety Officer stationed on the beach at all times.

Sun Safety

Sun Safety

Please be aware of the harmful effect that the sun's rays can have on your child's unprotected skin. We recommend a t-shirt and hat, along with 30+ sunscreen for any exposed skin. Our lycra suits, available for children of all ages, have the added benefit of providing sun protection both in and out of the water. And they make for a fun family photograph too!

To avoid eye irritation, it is important to remove any sunscreen from around your child's eyes when fitting their mask before snorkelling. Remember to reapply the sun screen regularly after in-water activities.
